Recently, the application scale of gate valves in oil and gas transmission, municipal water supply and drainage, power, chemical and fire protection pipe networks remains stable. Industry observations show that with the increase of pipeline diameter and operating pressure, users have put forward more detailed matching requirements for gate valves in terms of full-open flow resistance, bi-directional sealing capacity and opening-closing reliability.

In long-distance pipelines and storage & transportation processes, slab gate valves and full-bore structures are widely selected as they facilitate pigging operations. In water supply & drainage and fire protection systems, the adaptability of resilient wedge gates to sealing face deviation is valued. The intuitive valve position indication of rising stem structures is also a preferred option for some projects.

Meanwhile, fugitive emission control of stem packing has attracted more attention. Relevant standards define clearer provisions for shell strength test and sealing test. Some projects add measurement requirements for operating torque and sealing face lapping quality in procurement documents.

Industry insiders state that gate valve selection is shifting from matching by nominal diameter and pressure rating to comprehensive evaluation combining medium, buried conditions and operation frequency. Regular greasing and packing replacement are gradually included in pipe network maintenance plans.
